Hope Squared - Circa 2011

Ever since a young girl I have always kept a diary/journal of some sorts.  In grade school this turned into shared notebooks which my friends and I would pass back and forth.  My seventh grade self would have been mortified if an adult or, even worse, a cute boy got their hands on one of these notebooks.  In these books we would rate our top 5 or, even sometimes, our top 10 boys.  We would always try to make sure we weren't crushing on the same top boy at the same time. We lived in a small town - there was only a small handful of boys.

Somewhere a long my travels all these notebooks seem to have disappeared. All the letters - carefully folded - scrolled with 'for your eyes only' it saddens me that I don't have access to them any longer.  So I can laugh at my peppy large printing {I've never been a cursive writer} or reflect of the things that were so important to me at the age of 13.

This is what I love so much about blogging.  I feel like my most recent memories are safely stored away online - and backed up on my hard drive {and memory stick and external hard drive}.  Even though this blog is only 16 months old - those early days as a newlywed are so important to me.

As I drudge through my old posts - let's see how Hope Squared got started.

10 favourite moments of Hope Squared circa 2011

1. My First Blog Post - The Blog Vagabond - Where I vow to blog in the same location for one year.
2. The post where I claim my love of Beer
3. How I survived a weekend in the woods and fell in love with camping
4. The post where I inform you how upset I was about the remaking of Dirty Dancing  - and yes I am still mad.  I just saw Footloose - and only Kevin Bacon can mad dance in an empty warehouse.  {Perez Hilton has informed me that this disaster has been postponed to 2014}
5. The first time I cooked a turkey and hosted Thanksgiving Dinner
7. And the time I hung an Ikea Shelf on the wall - single handedly - and did a victory fist pump!
8.  A reflection of our nine years of togetherness
9.  The time I decided to unscrooge the holidays

2011 was equally as great a year as it was bad.  But I am glad that I have these memories documented safely - as we began that new phase in our lives.  OH and did you notice? Not one post about Basil.  I deserve a bunch of air fist bumps for that.  Please and thank you.

p.s. Did you know that Hope Squared thinks that it is already blogfamous and is important enough to offer monthly sponsoring. Say what? It's ridiculously true. I know laugh a little. But seriously. Check out my Collaborate Page and humour me a little. And if you're interested in purchasing some highly valued real estate on my fancy pants sidebar - then hit me up for a 50% off promo code. Or if you just want to swap - let's swap.  But not gum swappers because that's disgusting.

  6. I always wanted to keep a diary as a kid, but I always worried about ruining the book! I would buy a lovely notebook each year and then wouldn't write in it!! I still have a lot of the books stored in a box in the loft. Still unused.. I'm strange...!

  7. I too have a notebook that I passed back and forth with a friend, sadly we used 'nicknames' for the boys and I can't remember who the nicknames were for. Also said notebook is still at my parents' house as is a box or two of notes from high school. Who knows what they say, I'll have to read them someday...
